The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the school premises and grounds are maintained and developed to a high standard and lead the compliance of Health & Safety policies and regulations for the school.

General Duties
- To take full responsibility of internal and external general repairs
- Work with all staff to ensure that Safety, Health and Environment objectives are achieved for the school
- Maintain the school grounds and gardens
- Maintain and clean school vehicles
- To provide supervision, support and guidance to other maintenance and SHE staff
- Purchase and maintenance of equipment within policy guidelines
- To support the Head Teacher in the management and development of the whole school site
- To liaise with the Regional Property Manager
- To undertake relevant training including attaining the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (I.O.S.H.) ‘Managing Safely’ qualification
Safety, Health & Environment Duties
- Ensure a Safety, Health and Environment Management System is in place within the school reporting to the Head Teacher and Group SHE Risk Management on all Safety, Health and Environmental issues.
- Co-ordinate risk assessments for the school; educational; auxiliary and maintenance.
- Carry out self-evaluation safety inspections to ensure the SHE management system is operating effectively.
- Keep records of maintenance, inspection and testing carried out on the School premises.
- Advise the Head Teacher / Head of Group SHE Risk Management on situations or activities which are potentially hazardous to the Safety, Health and Environment of staff, pupils and visitors.
- Make provision for First Aid to include location of First Aid boxes, the contents of First Aid boxes, First Aid room and names of personnel trained to respond to incidents.
Person Specification
- Minimum 12 months experience of site management
- Supervisory experience
- Computer literate
- Good level of numeracy and literacy
- Willingness to undertake internal and external training
- Able to understand and apply regulations e.g. health and safety
- Able to effectively organise and supervise staff or contractors
- Competent at basic building repairs and maintenance and grounds maintenance
- Highly motivated
- High level of resilience
- Be able to work as part of team Flexibility
- Self-management – the ability to plan time and organise effectively to meet tight deadlines
- Good communication skills
- Confidence in reporting to senior management
