Operations Manager-Northern England (Covering Northumberland, Greater Manchester, North Yorkshire, Lancashire and Nottinghamshire)
An amazing opportunity has come through to work for a leading UK charity to support a major service delivery model supporting a government based contract plus some additional initiatives and outreach work across the North of the UK.
The ideal candidate will have an engaging leadership style, will be highly organised and provide the support, fun and clarity of communication to ensure the direct reports (4 Managers) feel supported, engaged and able to deliver the work needed to specific SLA's and compliance of this complex government contract.
You’ll oversee operations across a regional network of supported accommodation and outreach services. Managing Service Managers and up to 100 staff, you’ll ensure high standards of delivery, compliance, and financial control while also being strategic and support the overall quality of services and operational excellence/Process efficiency. You’ll report to the Head of Operations and manage an annual budget of around £6m.
You’ll lead people, monitor performance, develop new service opportunities, and ensure your teams deliver consistently high-quality support. You’ll also contribute to long-term strategic planning and identify opportunities to grow and improve regional services in an operationally efficient way.
Key responsibilities

Lead and support Service Managers across multiple sites in the North-Visiting each site and spending a day per month with each of the relevant managers.

Oversee service budgets, reporting, and compliance with quality frameworks.

Monitor and improve performance using KPIs and audits.

Develop and implement service improvement plans.

Build relationships with partners, local authorities, and external stakeholders.

Support staff wellbeing, retention, and professional development.
Essential experience and skills

Experience managing services across multiple locations.

Strong leadership and team management skills.

Proven ability to manage and report on budgets of several million pounds.

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.

Confident user of Microsoft Office and management systems.
Desirable

Experience of running/supporting services for vulnerable people or with humanitarian or social impact initiatives

Project management or Process excellence/Improvement related methodology, training or qualification (e.g. PRINCE2, Agile, Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen etc).

Full UK driving licence or willing to Travel via public transport across the regions required)
